About Us

The Smart Internet Lab brings together more than 200 multi-disciplinary experts across optical, wireless, IoT and cloud technologies enable us to bring together end-to-end network design and optimisation and impact regional, national and global ICT innovations.

Our Labs

Our state-of-the art Smart Internet Lab facilities are uniquely able to support research and innovation ranging from devices to applications across multiple technologies, to leverage benefits from hardware/software co-design and perform experimentation.

Our feature-rich experimental facilities offer: Network experimentation, Wireless research, Photonic fabrication and Research test-beds at scale including urban, national and international.

Cutting-Edge Large Scale Urban 5G Test Network for Digital Innovation

  • Built with Smart Internet Lab researchers expertise in  convergence of fibre infrastructure and 5G wireless access.

  • Dynamic end-to-end slicing and orchestration over heterogeneous wired and wireless networks

  • Programmable edge aggregation and mobile edge computing

5G in a Box

  • An intelligent box for convergence of all network technologies and connected devices

  •  Virtualising high-performance network functions at the edge

  •  Re-purposing the network at the edge for delay sensitive and computing intensive applications

Future 6G
networks

Smart Internet lab’s research team aims to demonstrate the latest 6G enabling technologies for communications. The test network is undergoing a strategic technology refresh from 5G to the 6G narrative to drive the communication systems of the future.

Our future network research focuses on a human-centric model, bridging the physical and the digital worlds through a digital representation of the physical world around us.
